The RAD ASMi-52 and ASMi-52L 2/4-line SHDSL modems use TC-PAM 16 line coding SHDSL technology to extend the digital interface distance. These devices can provide longer distances and different speeds up to 2.3 Mbps on 2-wire and 4.6 Mbps on 4-wire.

The ASMi-52 multiplexer version comes with two user ports, which can transmit V.35/X.21/RS-530 data over SH DSL, 10/100 BaseT LAN, and E1 communication.

ASMi-52 multiplexer version

The multiplexer mode of ASMi-52 provides one or two user ports. It is capable of transmitting data combinations of V.35/X.21/RS-530, 10/100 BaseT LAN, and E1 communication over a single SHDSL line, with a maximum data rate of 2.3 Mbps.

ASMi-52L version

The more cost-effective AS Mi-52 L version offers a choice for applications that only require a single user port, providing a single E1, V.35, X.21, or Ethernet, or four 10/100 BaseT user ports with built-in switches.
The maximum transmission distance of ASMi SHDSL modem at a data rate of 2 Mbps over 2 lines is 4 kilometers (2.5 miles), and the transmission distance over 4 lines is even further, with a maximum transmission distance of 10 kilometers and a speed of 64 kbps. All models are compatible with 2/4-wire repeaters, such as RAD's S-RPT, for longer distance applications. The product complies with ITU-T G.991.2 and ETSI 101524SHDSL standards. They can also be used in conjunction with the D X C and Megaplex HDSL modules from R A D company. Through the monitoring port, local and remote devices can be monitored, controlled, and diagnosed. Because it complies with the standard, ASMi modems can be used in conjunction with third-party TDM devices that support the S H DS L standard.

Card insertion version

ASMi-52 can be used as a standalone unit or as a plug-in card for the 19 inch shelf LRS-24, with central SNMP management functionality.
ASMi-52 also offers a choice of metal casing or rough metal casing, with half a 19 inch rack width, making it easy to install on standard rail racks that comply with EN 50121-4 industry standards. (Also applicable to ASMi-52L with 4 Ethernet ports).
