CMC 356 Universal Relay Protection TesterIntroduction:
CMC 356 Relay Protection Testing Instrument and Debugging Tool
The goal of CMC356 is to better meet the debugging and maintenance requirements of modern substations and relay protection devices. It provides a new means for 5A CT and testing applications with very high power requirements.
The particularity of CMC356 is its high-power current source with excellent dynamic output range. At the same time, integrating the three-phase testing function of large load electromechanical relays and the new IEC61850 technology in a testing device is a great solution to many challenges in today's protection testing field. The function of injecting a current from the testing device to perform wiring and reliability checks on current transformers is highly appreciated by debugging engineers.

CMC 356 application areas:
• Relay protection testing
For the safe and reliable operation of today's power system, relay protection systems play an important role. Protecting the normal operation of equipment helps to maintain the safe operation of the power system and protect equipment from damage. To ensure reliable operation, relays and reclosing controllers must be tested throughout their entire service life, from initial development to production, manufacturing, debugging, and regular maintenance during operation.
Our testing equipment is an ideal tool for all stages of the lifecycle and in any environment. As a reliable long-term partner, we provide users with testing solutions for new technologies and continuously maintain and develop them to meet the increasingly complex requirements of the system.

• Testing of measuring equipment
The functionality and accuracy testing of power system measurement equipment is either mandated by mandatory standards or regulations, or is part of existing quality assurance concepts. For various types of measuring equipment, such as power quality measuring devices, energy meters, or transmitters, effective measurement values can only be provided after correct calibration. Verification is carried out during the development process, type testing, and debugging process. At each stage of these processes, system operators must regularly test them to ensure their reliability. For all these application areas, we can provide multifunctional, portable, and high-precision testing solutions.

• Power system automation communication
IEC 61850 is an international standard for equipment communication within substations, defining communication between intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). This standard defines the general data model and complete engineering process for IED devices. The IEC 61850 standard has played an important role in the field of relay protection engineering, and has been widely adopted in operating substations. Since the beginning, the world's major relay manufacturers have used our equipment to complete performance testing of IEC 61850 devices and demonstrate device interoperability functions. We have always maintained a leading position in this field, providing a wide range of advanced IEC 61850 testing tools for relay protection engineers in substations or laboratories.

CMC 356 accessories:
ARC 256x arc flash initiator
Used to detect the arc that occurs when a short circuit occurs inside the switchgear
The arc flash protection system is designed to detect the arc that occurs when a short circuit occurs inside the switchgear. It can shorten the duration of the arc and cut off the energy source of the arc, thereby reducing the potential harm to personnel and equipment.
To test this type of protection, the ARC 256x arc flash generator simulates an arc through a xenon tube, which is very similar to a camera flash. During testing, the attachment of CMC was placed near the arc flash sensor. It is connected to the external interface socket of the CMC testing instrument through a 6m (19.7 ft) cable, which provides both voltage and trigger signals.

C-Shant Precision Voltage Divider
Accurate voltage divider for measuring current
C-Shunt1 and C-Shunt10 are precise voltage dividers used for measuring current. It can be directly inserted into the switch/analog input interface of OMICRON testers (such as CMC or COMPANO 100).

Folding vertical bracket for CMC device
Foldable bracket to vertically support CMC device
This sturdy vertical bracket (VEHZ0070) supports the CMC device at an angle of approximately 10 ° to provide sufficient space behind the tester for wiring.
The vertical bracket matches the dimensions of CMC very well, ensuring convenient operation when there is no table available or when space is limited at the testing site.

CMC 356
ELT (Recording Test and Transmitter) hardware options
This option:
Convert 10 switch inputs into multifunctional AC analog and DC analog measurement inputs. Along with the EnerLyzerTM SW license file, this feature allows the CMC356 to function as a 10 channel current and voltage transient recorder or as a measurement device for amplitude, phase, frequency, power (S, P, Q), harmonics, trend recording, and more.
Add two DC measurement inputs (0... 10 V/0... 20 mA) to CMC

LLO-2 hardware options
This option adds an additional 6 low-level outputs to CMC 356/353/256plus/256-6 (NET-1). The total number of signal generators that can be controlled by the testing equipment has been expanded from 16 to 22. These low-level outputs can be directly used to test relays with low-level inputs, or they can be used to control external amplifiers like CMS 356.
Low level output can simulate signals of new CT and VT with low-level interfaces. For the Rogowski coil signal, its uniqueness lies in its ability to simulate not only its steady-state signal but also its transient signal.
