It adopts a horizontal resistance furnace with ceramic tubes, with a working temperature range of 600 ℃ to 1550 ℃. The CS-r elemental analyzer meets or exceeds the elemental analysis requirements of all common ASTM, DIN, EN, or ISO standards.

The ELEMENTRAC CS-r analyzer analyzes the combustion of samples in an oxygen stream and subsequently measures the combustion gas CO in a selective infrared measurement cell2、SO2And H2Measure O to determine carbon and sulfur elements. The sample weight of up to 500 milligrams ensures excellent reproducibility of elemental analysis results, even for complex sample mixtures.
The electronic monitoring of high combustion temperature and oxygen flow rate ensures complete oxidation of the sample, even for challenging materials like cement, which helps to avoid low results. No matter which configuration is chosen (carbon sulfur carbon and sulfur), the operation of all models of analyzers is the same.

Step 1: Enter the sample information into the Elements software
Enter the sample name into the software, and the sample weight will be automatically imported from the balance into the software. (See Step 2)

Step 2: Weigh and add flux
For elemental analysis of carbon and sulfur, typical sample sizes range from 50 milligrams to 500 milligrams. The sample can be directly placed on a carrier (ceramic boat or chromium nickel iron alloy boat) for analysis without the need for adding combustion aids.

Step 3: Analysis
The sample is placed in front of the furnace mouth and measurement begins in the software. Subsequently, the furnace door opens and the material can be introduced into the hot furnace. Meanwhile, the Elements software continuously records measurement values during the combustion process. During the measurement process, the furnace door can be selectively closed to improve reproducibility.

Step 4: Output data
After 60 to 240 seconds of analysis, the measured carbon and sulfur concentrations can be used as a report or exported through LIMS. According to the selected configuration, carbon and sulfur values for individual samples can be provided.

Including two anhydrous magnesium perchlorate purification columns
In order to conduct reliable carbon and sulfur analysis, the combustion gas must undergo water purification before infrared detection. The CS-r elemental analyzer is equipped with two drying columns filled with magnesium perchlorate, which can reliably prevent absorption effects on large volume samples. When conducting TOC analysis, chemical tubes can also be used as halogen traps to reliably absorb acidic residues and halogens.

Including low blank value sample ports
The ELEMENTRAC CS-r and CHS-r analyzer series ensure safe and accurate elemental analysis, even for samples with low carbon content in resistance furnaces. Due to the optimized geometric shape of the sample port, reduced diameter, and oxygen blowing at the sample inlet, CO in the atmosphere is reduced during the sample introduction process2The blank value is greatly reduced, thereby achieving reliable carbon analysis within a low measurement range.

Optional backup furnace (ELTRA dual furnace concept)
Any configured CS-r elemental analyzer can be connected to a backup furnace without a detector. This principle is known from ELEMENTRAC CS-d, which enables rapid analysis and provides safety assurance for high-throughput samples by applying different temperatures.

Depending on the sample, carbon can also exist in the form of TOC (total organic carbon) or TIC (total inorganic carbon) in the sample. The CS-r elemental analyzer can be combined with ELTRA's TIC module to determine TIC content through acidification. This combination makes TIC analysis in soil, building materials, and other products reliable and direct, in compliance with DIN EN 15936 standard.

The comprehensive element analysis software based on Windows is an essential component of all element generation element analyzers. The central window (analysis and results) is the starting point for all the functions required for daily work. From here, analyzed samples can be grouped and exported, or new samples can be registered and analyzed. Users can call various dependent functions, such as application settings, calibration, diagnosis, or status.
