Hydrogen flame arrester (acetylene gas flame arrester) is a safety device specifically designed for the production of pipelines containing flammable and explosive media such as hydrogen and acetylene. The flame retardant core component is composed of multiple layers of stainless steel corrugated plates with many small channels or gaps that can pass through gas. The gap or channel of the flame retardant element is required to be as small as possible, so when the flame enters the flame arrester, it is divided into many small flame streams by the flame retardant element. Due to heat transfer and wall effect, the flame stream is quenched.

Main technical parameters of ordinary corrugated flame arrester:
• Suitable for storage tanks for petrochemical products with a flash point below 60 ℃, such as gasoline, kerosene, light diesel, toluene, and flammable and explosive pipelines;
• Working temperature ≤ 480 ℃;
• Shell material: carbon steel, aluminum alloy, stainless steel: SUS304, SUS304L, SUS316, SUS316L;
• Material of flame retardant core: stainless steel corrugated plate;
• Sealing material: nitrile rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene, metal gasket, etc;
• Explosion proof rating: BS 550: IIA IIB IIC;
• Manufacturing and testing standards: in accordance with GB5908-86 and SY7511-87 standards;
• Flange standards: HG20592~97PN1.0 or GB, SH, HGJ, JB, ANSI, JIS and other standards.

Maintenance and repair:
• It should be checked every six months. Check whether the fire-resistant layer has defects such as blockage, deformation, or corrosion;
• Clean the blocked fire-resistant layer thoroughly to ensure that each hole is unobstructed. Replace any deformed or corroded fire-resistant layer;
• When cleaning the flame arrester core components, high-pressure steam, non corrosive solvents, or compressed air should be used for blowing, and sharp hardware scrubbing should not be used;
• When reinstalling the fire-resistant layer, the gasket should be updated and the sealing surface should be confirmed to be clean and undamaged, without any air leakage.
